Create Opportunity

“A wise man will make more opportunity than he finds.” – Sir Francis Bacon

I love this quote because it challenges the idea that opportunity just shows up. Too often, people sit around waiting for opportunity to knock.

Opportunity is usually created, not discovered.

As a coach, I hear excuses like, “I would have been a better player if I had been given the opportunity.” That makes me cringe. Everyone has opportunity. The difference is who prepares for it.

The kids who earn playing time aren’t always the most naturally talented. They’re the ones who work harder.
