Negative comments are hard to escape. We hear them all day long. Words like “hate” get thrown around casually. “I hate this.” “I hate that.” While people may not mean deep hatred, repeating negativity so often reveals a level of bitterness that creeps in without us realizing it.

It often feels easier to criticize than to compliment. People find faults like detectives on a mission. And most of the time, that fault-finding stems from dissatisfaction within.

Instead of constantly pointing out what’s wrong with others, it may be more productive to look inward and ask where the bitterness is coming from. We aren’t born bitter.
