Protect Your Character
“Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” – John Wooden
It is natural to wonder what other people think of us. Whether we are proud of something we accomplished or embarrassed by a mistake we made, there is often a quick glance around the room to see who noticed. Many people spend a great deal of their lives worried about how they are viewed by others.
But the truth is, the opinions that matter most are not the ones coming from strangers.
The opinion that matters most is your own.
Your character is built from what you know about yourself. It comes from your values, your decisions, and the way you carry yourself when nobody else is paying attention. Other people may form opinions about you, but most of them only see fragments of your life.
